Mr. Kavanaugh is a great History and Global 9 teacher who leaves a lasting impact on his students. He shared that “People in my high school like teachers and coaches, shaped me into the person I am today”. Not only does Mr. Kav teach with a passion, but he is also a great person to talk to when needed.

Mr Kav’s wife works in the Jr. High as a reading teacher. They like working in the same school but they always try to keep it professional by showing as much respect as they would as just normal co-workers.“When we first applied to Victor we told Mr. Gee we were dating and he told us he wouldn’t even notice because of how professional we are,” said Mr. Kav.

They both love talking about school, but they try to limit themselves when they get home from a long day of teaching.  Kav said, “At some point when we get home, we just tell eachother there is no more talking about school or work”.

They both love doing fun activities around Victor and one is supervising the sports here at Victor. 

Outside of teaching Kav coaches the Victor Varsity hockey team. He loves coaching sports because of the atmosphere they create when you’re younger, and can make you grow as a person through the years. But the Victor Hockey team has a big culture in the program, this is the biggest thing that creates their success. “Culture in the Victor Hockey team plays a big role in the success we have had in the past few years”.

 Victor Hockey has won multiple titles over the past years including a 2018 States title, and a number of sectional titles the most recent being in 2022. 

Some teachers just teach because they love their subject or they get the summer off but in the words or Mr. Kavanugh “It’s about forming relationships and watching students form into young adults”
