The album WISH YOU WERE HERE by Dro Kenji was released with Internet Money Records on August 18th, 2023. The album had 17 songs on it with features like Mike Dimes and Powers Pleasant. This album included Dro Kenji’s unique flows along with his relatable lyrics and angelic-like voice.
The topic of this album was just him wishing his person was there with him but instead he’s by himself and heartbroken. There are all types of songs in this album. Sad songs, hard and uptempo songs, songs that are just purely for flow and just how good it sounds. The beats most of the time have 808s in them which is the drum machine on the beat and it’s pretty consistent through most of the beats in the album.
Dro Kenji is known for his story telling with past relationships and the vibrant feeling it gives the listener. Dro Kenji says he feels his music brings a sort of positive feeling to the listener. Dro implements lots of different styles in his music.
One of his most popular styles is his rock style like in ‘PAMPER PAMPER’, ‘THROW UP’, ‘ANNIHILATION’, and ‘ARSONIST’. Another one of his popular styles is his love songs which focus on more of his vocals and story of the song. These styles include songs like ‘SMILE’, ‘DREAMIN’, ‘MYSELF’, ‘OVER & OVER’, and ‘LISTEN’.
He also makes songs in this album that flow faster and smooth like ‘FASTER’, ‘PRESIDENTIAL’, and ‘WHITE OUT’.
Overall Dro Kenji’s album WISH YOU WERE HERE was a hit album as it introduced many new fans and listeners, including me, to his unique style and rhythm. Kenji as of recently is planning on releasing another album this November and it apparently has a lot of hype around it as he’s been dropping singles and unreleased songs that are very different and melodic.
