Anchor Bar, the home of the original buffalo wings, is well worth the drive out to Buffalo. After walking in, you’re greeted with a dive-bar style, but well organized. The walls are covered with local media, and a lot of photos and memorabilia from Buffalo sports teams, especially the Buffalo Sabers.
After being greeted by the staff, who were all very nice, I sat on some of the taller seats, where I could see many TVs showing a recap of the Sabers 5-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
The waiters soon came, asking for drinks and if we were ready to order, a very speedy service. They didn’t rush us, but it was nice not being there for an hour without ordering. I was probably only waiting five or ten minutes. I ordered 10 mild and 10 spicy garlic parmesan cooked extra well. The wings came a bit after ordering, with two cups of blue cheese and some celery, steaming hot.
The wings were high quality and were some of the best that I’ve ever had. They were very large and no part of the wing was without sauce. They were very filling and all came were worth going out to Buffalo for.
After I finished the wings, the staff soon came with the check. There was no obnoxiously long wait for the check which was very appreciated. The cost wasn’t too bad, and they even sold bottles of their wing sauces in store.
Overall, the whole experience was very nice. Despite it being a dive bar, it felt very family friendly, which was further shown with the couple of families there. The food was amazing and the staff was very kind and were on top of customer service. I highly recommend going to check out Anchor Bar in Buffalo.
