The Conjuring horror series is based on a true story taking place in Harrisville, Rhode Island, where the Perron family lived in a farmhouse in the 1970s. When arriving at their seemingly “perfect” new home they are faced with a life-changing experience.
Oddly coincidental events like glass breaking at 3 am or Perron family kids seeing things, caused worry for this family leaving no choice but to have this house cleansed and blessed.
When investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on this house they realize it’s much more than a haunted house. Lorrain is a gifted clairvoyant, while Ed is the only non-ordained Demonologist recognized by the Catholic church. Out of the thousand cases throughout their controversial career, there is one case so malicious, they’ve kept it locked away until now.
The house has a terrifying background which makes sense for all the strange things that have been happening. The house turns out to be hunted by an old cruel family who participated in many cult-like behaviors resulting in the possession of several family members.
The Conjuring is one of the many films in this series. It also includes the popular Annabelle and The Nun which connect to the main storyline of hauntings and paranormal behavior. Most possessions tend to come from the background of that particular house, doll, person, etc.
My personal favorite is the first Conjuring because of its incredible filming and acting. There’s nothing more intriguing than a mysterious horror film with the perfect amount of jump scares to keep you up at night.
This spooky series is a great way to start the Halloween season leaving a chilling feeling on you.
