You may have seen him bopping through the halls or dancing on your TikTok For You Page, but who is he?
Senior Griffin Bookmiller is someone worth getting to know. Often referred to as “Gbook” by his friends and as of recently, “Aura Bank” for his mysterious and laid-back personality. Aura is a word that has been circulating social media platforms and is being used to describe someone who has a cool vibe about them.
The phrase “Aura Bank” derives from Liv Mckinnion who says “I gave him this nickname because his calm and nonchalant demeanor acts as a steady source of positive energy for our friends, making him a grounding presence.” When asking Griffin himself how he would define aura, he said “Being on sum calm shi” which I guess we can leave up to our own interpretations.
Much like his personality, Griffin’s amazing dance skills, which look absolutely effortless, also contribute to his overall aura. He says he became good at dancing by attending quinceaneras growing up and watching football player Evan Stewart dance in both TikTok videos and touchdown celebrations.
A common misconception about Griffin is that he has no bones due to his flowy dance style and ability to seemingly float while he dances.
I decided to take a deeper dive into such an aura-filled individual and figure out what lies within such a closed (g)book.
Growing up a Westerner, Griffin was born in Arizona and then later moved to Montana where he spent most of his time growing up. He and his family moved to Victor in 2022 due to his dad’s job. He explained how different Montana is from here, “It’s a very different culture. Everyone’s personality and the way that they dress is completely different.” He also mentioned how lacrosse is not at all a prevalent sport out west and he wasn’t very familiar with it until coming to New York.
In Montana, he played baseball and won a State Championship with his team. He was planning on trying out football, but unfortunately experienced an injury involving his ribs that prevented him from playing. He has now taken a step back from sports and enjoys working on cars.
Griffin says something he is most passionate about is being the father to Junior, Gage Hay, but Gage’s reaction to this statement says otherwise. “When pigs can fly,” says Hay, “He is not my father.”
Griffin is also passionate about all things Ole Miss. He enjoys watching their football team, especially quarterback Jaxson Dart, and hopes to attend Ole Miss next year for college.
Although this article covers a lot, the Aura Bank lore seems to be never ending and there is so much more to learn.
