It’s not every day you hear about an 8th grader on not only one, but two varsity teams. Let’s take a deep dive into one of our own sophomore athletes that has been on two varsity teams since 8th grade; Allie Pisano.
Allie has been on Victor Varsity Basketball and Varsity Lacrosse since 8th grade. She also plays club lacrosse for a team called Aces at the moment. Being on Varsity before even starting high school has its strengths and weaknesses. Allie has gained lots of maturity and leadership skills by being surrounded by older athletes. However, she lost the “no pressure” aspect of games and wasn’t able to be as close with people and athletes in her grade because she wasn’t on the same team as them.
Allie’s mom was the person who truly influenced her into starting lacrosse. She states her mom liked the jerseys, so she signed Allie up for lacrosse and she loved it. Allie’s aunt guided her into playing basketball because her aunt was a high school basketball coach. Her biggest role model in the sports world is Kobe Bryant, because his words were super motivational. Her dad, although not a celebrity, helps her get through everything.
Being in the basketball season at the moment, days have been busy for Allie. A typical day for her starts with waking up early and going to Spoke, a spin class, or she will lift in her gym at home before school. Then after school, she heads home and does a lift and runs. Then, she has basketball practice at 5, and after will go to Pinnacle and get some shooting in for lacrosse. Then when she gets home, she manages to fit in time for homework.
Being this busy and striving to get better every day shows the type of athlete Allie is. There definitely has to be boundaries and priorities, like how she will save time to hangout with friends over the weekend and dedicate her week to putting time towards her sports.
Allie considers her discipline and work ethic to be some of her greatest strengths as an athlete. If she doesn’t feel like putting in the work or is too tired, she will still do it to make her better. The passion and outcome she hopes to have for the sport truly makes her hard work worth it.
Allie aims to go to a Division 1 college that has a good culture and goals of winning a national championship. After college, she hopes to coach a lacrosse team and inspire the next generation of athletes.

This article has a solid structure and flows well. The writer does a good job balancing personal details, like Allie’s daily routine and influences, with her long-term goals. The story is organized logically, making it easy to follow as it moves from her early start in sports to her current busy lifestyle. However, the writing could be more concise in some parts, as certain sections feel a bit repetitive. Overall, the article is clear and effective while maintaining a motivational tone.
