The Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving tradition in many towns. Victor is one of them and this Thanksgiving marked the 6th annual Turkey Trot that Victor has held!
You could run a 5K or “1-Mile Fun Run.” Both races began behind Town Hall and headed towards the school, entering through the first entrance.
The 5K continued through the Quail Ridge neighborhood and onto Church Street. It finished at Town Hall. The 1-Mile Fun Runners turned around inside the VCS entrance and returned down High Street also finishing at Town Hall.
The Turkey Trot is a volunteer-based event and cannot succeed without the help of many. It also has a surplus of sponsors including Wegmans, Burn Boot Camp, The Thirsty Turtle, and many more.
This year, 1,895 people signed up to “trot” on Thanksgiving morning, making this year’s Turkey Trot the largest in all 6 years since Victor started holding one.
Due to this large number of participants, approximately $40,000 was raised and 100% of it was donated to 8 different charities in our community. These 8 include The Serenity House, Victor Farmington Food Cupboard, The Spot, Child Advocacy Center, Bridges for Brain Injury, Victor Hiking Trails, “Hometown Heroes” Banner Campaign, and Ganondagan.
The Turkey Trot is more than just a 5k though. It is a fun bonding experience with friends and family and it brings the community and alumni together to run and raise money for important causes.
“I ran it this year because my family had signed up so I wanted to do it with them! I also wanted to get some exercise!” This was 2018 Victor Grad Mary Allen’s response to why she decided to run the Turkey Trot this year.
My friends and I also ran it this year and we collectively agreed that it was a very fun experience and that we will 100% do it again next year!
I highly recommend running the Turkey Trot if you are looking for a fun time with friends or family and are looking to help the charities in our community!

I love how you shed light onto this event! I think starting off with a description of the event and then going into the reasons why was a great way of introducing it. Your use of facts and personal quotes is really good. Maybe Ill think about doing it next year! Great job Selly!
