Beginning in early April, Victor will finally be hopping on the Yondr Pouch bandwagon.
If you are unfamiliar with the concept, Yondr Pouches are magnetic bags that all students will be required to keep their phones in at all times. The pouch will automatically lock when the student enters a classroom or a “phone-free area” and then unlock once they exit.
Now, in order to get the most out of this technology, Victor has designated the entire school as one enormous phone-free area. Meaning, instead of the typical programming used by Yondr, the pouches used by Victor students will lock automatically at the start of the school day and unlock at 2:15.
Unfortunately, this program cannot be overridden and will affect students who have late arrival, early dismissal or blue passes, as well as absentees. Administration is not sympathetic to this issue as they claim the pouches are being utilized specifically “in order to ensure focus and high levels of productivity during the school week”.
Funding for these pouches (typically priced at around $30 per student) has been allocated from the DECA budget for the 2025-2026 school year, therefore, there will be no funded trips or competitions taking place during that year.
Administrators will also be tasked with random checks of classrooms while this system is in place. If they find any student’s phones outside of a Yondr Pouch within the school, those students will be subject to a special in-school suspension inside of the newly installed “Yondey” (akin to the “Chokey” in Roald Dahl’s Matilda).
The Yondey will work in the same way as the pouches with the only difference being a 2000% increase in scale to allow several students to be locked inside it whenever they are caught disobeying any of Yondr’s policies.
Since Victor is the first school to be putting the Yondey in practice- along with the fact that we have altered their programming- Yondr has decided to plant at least 2 officials from their company in each square foot of the building. They also will be observing every classroom to ensure their products are being used properly and regularly.
Several Administrators have admitted to selling their souls to Yondr in order to pay for this arrangement and therefore have failed to provide comment on the issue. Others are currently undergoing inspection to find where they fall on the Yondr Scale of Loyalty; the results of which will determine if they deserve to continue working for the school. Students will soon be forced to undergo a similarly selective process for the Overlords, beginning on April 31st.
