Movie: Silence of the Lambs
Summary: While it’s not your typical Halloween movie, Silence of the Lambs is a horror movie about a former psychiatrist named Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a cannibal who lives in a high security psychiatric facility. FBI agent in training Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) wants to interview Lecter in order to solve another case involving a former patient of his. Sophia likes that the movie has lots of thought put into it and that it is a movie you really have to pay attention to.

Movie: Ready or Not(2019)
Summary: Grace (Samara Weaving) is excited to be married to her husband and be a part of his new family. But things aren’t quite what they seem. On the night of their wedding Grace plays a game with her new family. After a certain card is drawn, things quickly escalate into a game of life or death. Now Grace must survive while members of the family attempt to kill her. Scar enjoys this movie because it is a dark comedy and she likes the unexpected jokes that contrast the plot and scenes. Scar also loves the aesthetic of the movie including the sets of the destroyed wedding and the muted lighting.

Movie: Halloween
Summary: Michael Myers was arrested at 6 years old for the murder of his older sister. On the day before Halloween, he escapes from prison and returns to Haddonfield, Illinois searching for more victims. Gabriella likes Halloween because it is a classic movie.

Movie: Monster House
Summary: In this cartoon, when DJ (Mitchel Musso), Chowder (Sam Lerner) and Jenny (Spencer Locke) find out that an old man’s house is actually a monster, they set out to defeat it before Halloween. Monster House was even nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Alison likes this movie because it was her, “favorite as a child”.

Movie: Hocus Pocus
Summary: On Halloween in Salem Massachusetts teenagers Max (Omri Katz), Dani (Thora Birch) and Allison (Vinessa Shaw) accidentally release three witches called the Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy). Now, along with a talking black cat named Binx (Sean Murray), the teens must stop the sisters from taking the lives of children in order to become immortal. Tessa says that, “It has been kind of a tradition at my house to watch Hocus Pocus on Halloween so I really enjoy coming back to it every year“.

Movie: Halloweentown
Summary: On her 13th birthday, Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) finds out that she comes from a family of witches, and that she herself is a witch. She then goes to Halloweentown -a place for supernatural beings like witches- and finds out that she must fight against a powerful evil. Clarissa says, “If you haven’t watched this, I highly suggest you do.”

Movie: Mr Harrigan’s Phone
Summary: Craig (Jaeden Martell) has been reading to wealthy Mr Harrigan (Donald Sutherland) for years. Craig gives Mr. Harrigan company, and even helps him learn to work his new phone. But after he dies, Craig starts receiving new messages from Mr. Harrigan- but these messages come with consequences. This new Netflix film is based on a short story by Steven King. Maria enjoys this movie because while it can make you uneasy, it is not your typical horror movie and isn’t too scary. It also has many small details that you really need to pay attention to because everything connects in one way or another.
