The handsome heart-throb Timothée Chalamet stars in many wonderful films but his performance is arguably the best. The raw emotion he shows during this film is exceptional and is a must watch.
The motion picture movie Beautiful Boy based on a true story produced by Prime Video is a heartbreaking film starring Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet does an incredible job portraying a 18 year old boy named Nic Sheff that is struggling with addiction. The film does a wonderful job telling the story of Nic and the effect he has on his family though his fight to sobriety.
Throughout the story we see the bond between Nic and his father slowly drifting away. As Nic is struggling with addiction he tries to distance himself from his family. His father, David, played by Steve Carell tries to pull Nic out of the hole Nic buried himself in. As a father that is trying to untangle his son’s mess he begins to undergo his own rollercoaster.
Nic’s dad tries everything to try and help his son get sober. It is a very long process that Nic goes through including relapse and sobriety. It is not a perfect journey and I think that is the beauty of it all. It shows the raw emotions of Nic and his father through losing hope and gaining it and losing it again.
The relationship between Carell and Chalamet really shows on screen. They work very well together to portray the father-son relationship. The emotion of Carell is something we haven’t really seen much through him with his starring roles in light-hearted and funny shows and films like The Office, or Despicable Me.
Beautiful Boy is a very raw film and it addresses the harsh realities of growing up and losing innocence, and the impact of family support while going through a hard time such as addiction.
I think that Beautiful Boy is a must watch, it is a beautiful story, and it pulls you through a rollercoaster of emotions, gaining hope for Nic and losing it as well all through the story.
