Will “Tec” be album of the year?
We have had some incredible albums so far this year. From “pink tape” by Lil Uzi Vert to “Glockoma 2” by Key Glock. However a new great album has just been dropped that can contend for album of the year: “Tec”
It’s been two years since we last got an album from Tecca but he made sure to come back strong with a phenomenal list of songs. From start to finish every song is amazing. Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe aka Lil Tecca, the rapper that produced this album, was born and raised in Queens, New York. He rose to fame in 2019 with his hit song “ransom” he continued to make top 5 hit songs each year since.
Lil Tecca’s songs are relatively similar but they all sound unique. They typically have a common speed and pace for the songs but use different lyrics and beats to make each song unique. I personally love this because if you like one song you will usually like them all. A lot of other singers/rappers use a variety of paces in their music.
My problem with that is that only some music by the artist appeals to the listener versus all of the music. I believe this is one of the strengths of the album, the consistency makes the album a make or break. This can also be seen as a weakness because if you aren’t a fan of a song you most likely won’t like most of the others.
The album consists of some songs that were already top hits as singles, including them in the album was smart and fitting. Including the songs draws people back in to listen to more and hear the rest of the album. I loved this album. For me it flows very well and each song feels similar but also like it is its own song and different from the last. I believe that’s the way albums should be made.
Some stand out songs from the album are, “500lbs”, “HVN ON EARTH”,and “Dead or Alive”. “500lbs” currently is one of his fastest growing songs, with over 50 million listens on spotify. These songs are my personal favorites from the album and are also trending on spotify and other music platforms. I believe anyone who listens to this type of music would love these songs as well.
You may also like this new album because you may relate to some lyrics, even if you don’t relate to everything Tecca says he usually drops a bar that everyone can relate to. “I’m trustin’ nothin’ i’m told, honestly i’m trustin’ half what i’m shown’. This lyric is something a lot of people can relate to with how you can’t trust everything.
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that has ever liked or listened to a song by Tecca. I believe that this will be one of the best albums of the year and is Tecca’s best album he has made so far. If you like hip hop rap then you should definitely check it out because you will love these songs.
