Jordan Alger- Smith is a very well known person around Victor. You may know him from a class you’ve shared, his neon orange sneakers, the plastic animal he’s attacked you with or the invisible arrow he’s shot at you. Either way, Jordan is a very memorable person.
Jordan has many special connections with students and staff at Victor Senior High School.
Jordan states that, “Mrs. Horsfall and Mr. Cronmiller,” make Victor most special for him.
Mr. Caughlin has recently started teaching Jordan this year in Journalism. He knew of Jordan before he started teaching him due to his “green monochromatic outfits” and “neon orange sneakers.”
However, Mr. Caughlin has seen how truly special Jordan is after he has started teaching him. Caughlin describes him as, “unapologetically himself.” Which is quite admirable since most high school students are not unapologetically themselves.
In the classroom Mr. Caughlin states that, “Jordan’s sense of humor makes a classroom space more inviting, more accepting, and generally more fun.”
I can attest that Jordan does generally make everything more fun. I’ve been friends with Jordan since sophomore year. Over the years of being friends I’ve been able to see how many people he’s touched and how much he’s grown as a person. Jordan has never failed to make me laugh. Even when I’m in the worst mood at school he always finds a way to turn my day around with a hug or a “Joe Mama” joke.
Jordan is also one of the most thoughtful people I’ve met. On my birthday last year Jordan emailed me off of his school email and wished me a happy birthday. That was one of the most meaningful “happy birthdays” I got because it meant so much that he remembered.
In a classroom environment it is so evident how Jordan lights up a room with his humor.
The next time you see Jordan in the hallway or a class, don’t be frightened by the invisible sword he’s attacking you with or the plastic shark “biting” you. Say “hi” to Jordan, get to know him, because he is truly worth getting to know.
