Girls Varsity Lacrosse senior night was a special night for many and a chance to celebrate the journey of all the seniors on the team.
Girls Varsity Lacrosse is a versatile team built up of upperclassmen, juniors and ten seniors.
As someone who doesn’t know much about lacrosse, it is still undeniably obvious the connection between each player and the passion for the sport.
Senior night took place at 6:30pm on Corbit Field against Webster Thomas but the celebration of each senior started way earlier.
Girls lacrosse is unique in the way they celebrate this day.
Each underclassmen or junior is assigned a senior for the day. They decorate the lockers of each senior with their next year college colors, give them little gift baskets, starbucks in the morning along with the shirts they wear with the seniors’ faces on them.
This is a special way they add to the celebration of the seniors and really shows the culture of Victor Girls Lacrosse.
The senior night ceremony started with each player showing a video of themselves sharing their favorite memories and advice for younger players on varsity.
They are then walked down a tunnel made by the other players and are accompanied by their fellow teammates. They’re greeted with flowers and their families waiting for them to take pictures.
When I asked Libby Boland, a senior attack on the team what senior night meant to her she responded with, “senior night was a very special night I had been looking forward to for awhile. I got to celebrate with all my best friends and reflect on my four years on varsity. It was very emotional and such a great memorable experience”.
Along with an emotional senior night, the girls came out with a 18-6 win over Webster Thomas just adding to the excitement in the stadium that night.
The Victor Girls Varsity Lacrosse team is a team of best friends and talented players who set an example on what a team’s culture should look like.
Senior night was a great time to celebrate each and every senior who has dedicated their time and energy into Victor Girls Lacrosse.
