I decided to take a stop at Jersey Mike’s Sub shop and try 3 out of their 14 cold subs. Jersey Mikes is known for their authentic tasting submarine sandwiches and being the “healthier” alternative for fast foods, I wanted to test this out.
I bought and tried the top 3 most popular cold subs which consisted of No. 13 the Original Italian, No. 7 Turkey and Provolone and lastly No. 8 the Club Sub. I ordered these all with the “Mike’s Way” which includes onions, lettuce, tomatoes, spices, red wine vinegar and olive oil. I also decided to try these all on their Rosemary Parmeson bread because it looked the best and my goal was to focus on the things in the sub/the sub as a whole.
My first impression when I got to Jersey Mikes was that the customer service was great. The line was moving fast and the workers were staying on top of all the orders including the ones that appeared to be online orders.
After they had prepared and made all my subs they asked me if I wanted a side which was the option of a cookie, brownie, or chips and/or a fountain drink. I declined both of the offers and went on paying for my 3 subs which ended up costing about $30.00. I thought this was pretty expensive considering I got the size mini for each sub which was about ¼ a full sub, but I got them anyway and was excited to try them.
The first one I tried was the Original Italian which consisted of Provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni, I’ve had before so my expectations were already high. It did in fact meet my expectations and was just as good as I was hoping. The ratio of meats and cheese was perfect, topped off with the oil and vinegar that gave it the most scrumptious taste.
The second sub I tried was the Turkey and provolone. This one was definitely not as good as the Original Italian but still not bad. I’m not a big fan of provolone cheese so I assumed that’s what was throwing me off. Again I thought the vinegar and oil carried the sub and added a lot of flavor. Overall the sub was definitely mid to me.
Lastly I tried the Club sub which included Turkey, ham, provolone, applewood smoked bacon & mayo. I have always heard great things about this sub from my friends and family but I had never had bacon on my sub so I was skeptical while trying it. Although I thought the flavor of this sub was very tasteful and yummy it didn’t stay well together with the bacon while biting it which was annoying.
In conclusion my trip to Jersey Mikes left me in a good mood with a full tummy. I found new foods I liked and experienced great customer service. Overall I would most definitely recommend the No. 13 Original Italian made the “Mikes Way”.
