Mr. Ferreri is a man of his word. He is a varsity Head coach of hockey and an assistant varsity coach for baseball. Everybody knows or sees Mr. Ferreri, but doesn’t know his story.
Ferreri and his athletes know that when each sport is in season, he is strictly focused on that sport. With his 3 kids getting older and more involved in sports doing everything he loves gets more challenging. He has always brought his kids around the rink and the field to connect his athletes with his family.
He has recently stopped being a P.E. and health teacher, though, “not seeing as many students and interacting with them” was what he misses most.
Ferreri has told his athletes and students that winning isn’t it all, and losing doesn’t mean it’s over. He stands by being kind to everyone. Nobody will remember you getting the game winning goal or hitting a home run in 10 years, they’ll remember you as the kid that was a bully.
Before I left I had one question for him to answer. What is one thing you would say to your athletes if tomorrow was your last day coaching? He responded with never give up no matter how hard it gets and always be kind to everyone.
Coach Ferreri is a unique coach, from what I’ve heard and my conversations with him he gives everyone an equal opportunity even if others are more advanced in the sport of baseball or hockey. He never fails to support and uplift his athletes. His successful way of coaching has led his teams to many sectional titles and even a state win in 2018 for hockey.
Any athlete is lucky to be coached by the one and only Coach Fererri.
