Mrs. Rydzynski is the Victor Schools ENL (English as a New Language) teacher alongside Mrs. Santella. Mrs. R is the teacher who greets new kids from other countries and helps them get accustomed to Victor and the US.
She teaches students English as well as helps them throughout the year in their classes until they get the hang of English and pass a specific test to opt out of ENL. Kids will continue school without help as they now know English.
Mrs. R truly does care about her students as she stated “I went into an ENL classroom for college and saw all those kids there so when I left I knew that it was what I wanted to do after that”.
Mrs. R truly did find her passion for teaching as she originally said “I’m never coming back” after high school but fell in love with teaching after she visited an ENL classroom. I have personal connections with Mrs.R as when I first came to the US she was the person that first greeted me and taught me English. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today so I have to thank her for a lot as she has taught me so much and I am super grateful for her and everything she does.
I asked Mrs. R about what she would change about the school and when I asked she seemed upset because she knows that I know what she would change. She also seemed delighted by the question a little bit as if this was a question that she had been waiting for, almost as a way to finally speak her mind to other people rather than her friends/coworkers.
She instantly mentioned the new ESL room they gave her. She did not like it at all as she said it is super small and uncomfortable as her policy is “everyone is welcome” so at some point, the room can get full and it can become an issue.
Overall Mr. Rydzinski is still grateful for what she has and she will continue to teach English to new learners for many years to come but she will still voice her complaints about her room until a change is made.
