I sat down with Mrs. Falagan, my online learning teacher, to discuss her career at Victor High School. Mrs. Falagan is currently a teacher assistant in the online learning center.
The OLC is a welcoming classroom where Mrs. Falagan always has cold water bottles, snacks, including Werther’s caramel candies.
She’s been working at our school for over 20 years and plans to retire within the next two years. Mrs. Falagan describes the OLC, “As an environment that gives students the opportunity to take credit recovery online courses and provides an environment where the students foster a “can do spirit” and the grit to persevere. Those are the skills that will help them achieve their goals throughout their life.”
She describes her job as rewarding and stimulating where no two days are the same. In addition to our online classes she prompts us to complete assignments in our in person classes so we don’t fall behind.
She wants all her students to be successful and instills in us the drive to keep pushing forward. Before coming to Victor Mrs. Falagan worked for an association in Washington D.C. as a call center manager.
In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading and enjoys hiking on the local trails. She also likes to travel, especially to Spain where her husband’s family lives.
She chose to come to Victor because it provided a work life balance so she could be home with her children more.
Mrs. Falagan is a real asset to our student body because she provides a welcoming environment that is a safe place where students can feel comfortable to learn at their own pace.
