Mr Cutaia is a teacher at Victor Senior Highschool who teaches three business classes; Accounting, Sports Marketing and Computer applications. Cutaia is known to be a very outgoing guy with very strong opinions which is why I chose to interview him.
I started my interview by introducing myself and proceeded to ask him random questions on his favorites and least favorites things.
The first question I asked Cutaia was what was his favorite and least favorite NFL team. His response was pretty simple at first he stated “I have been a Buffalo Bills fan for as long as I can remember, so that would be my favorite team, my least favorite teams and most hated teams would be the Patriots and Dolphins.” He then continued to explain how the hate for the dolphins came from his childhood since they were the Bills biggest rivalry.
I continued to ask Mr. Cutaia his favorite and least favorite things and continued to learn different things about him and get detailed responses like how his least favorite pizza topping is peppers because he is allergic and how there’s not a single sport anyone could ask him to go play that he would say no to accept the fact that he doesn’t think anyone would want to see him in a cheer outfit.
I then asked Mr. Cutaia a question that I wasn’t sure if he would answer but he did and turned my question into much more than it was intended for. I asked Mr. Cutaia who his least favorite and favorite student has been throughout his years of teaching. He started his response by mentioning how he has been teaching for 16 years and how he still couldn’t tell me his most favorite student nor his most unliked student.
He then followed up this response with how he believes it’s very important to always show respect and receive it back and how one of his strengths is being personable and being able to learn about students and help push them in the right direction if needed.
He then said “I’m sure we’ve all had the students in here where were just like oh my gosh, how do you deal with that kind of person, but our jobs as teachers is to always try to find the good in people, so I think that’s the way to look at it, try to find the good in everyone.”
This really changed my perspective on teachers as a whole and how their job isn’t just to teach us about things we think we will never use in real life but help us grow as humans and be there to support and push us.
