Mr. Do it all aka Deputy Boyer is a somewhat new staff member to Victor, he started working here about a year and a half ago. Although Deputy Boyer is now a school resource officer he hasn’t always been one. He previously worked as a road police officer for Monroe county, child protective services, and as a youth care professional at Hillside in Pittsford. 

Deputy Boyers Journey to becoming a school resource officer has been because of lots of different reasons like some of the jobs he has worked; child protective services and being a youth care professional. Another reason that led to him choosing this job was one of his bosses recommending how it would be a great fit for him and he would most definitely succeed and thrive in this position. He decided to change jobs to become a school resource officer after he decided he wanted to try something new and the pros that come with this new job, like being able to create new relationships with kids at a younger age which helps students be comfortable and hopefully have positive relationships with police officers in their futures.

As a school resource officer Deputy Boyer states he works with everyone in the building, collaborating with students, teachers, counselors, and administration. If a student or students are having problems like a mental health crisis, being bullied, or having issues with social media, Deputy Boyer and staff can come together as a team to help find a solution to help those students succeed. He also plays a huge part with security inside and outside of the school and making sure students and other staff stay safe.

Deputy Boyer’s plans for Victor to help make it more secure and allow people to feel safe throughout the building and campus would be by adding on another school resource officer that can also help collaborate ideas on how to keep Victor safe with also the help of students and staff contributing on ways they would feel safer.

His perspective on high school students have changed from thinking of students as naive because of his experience in school and thinking that the students won’t be as knowledgeable to realizing students know more than he thought and most are well informed and mature. Being able to get to know more students daily has helped both him and students get along more and know he is someone you can go to.

Although Boyer might seem as an intimidating person once you get to know him he’s a great person who only cares for the best for you. Three words he would use to describe himself are caring, happy, and funny. Strike up a conversation with him to see if that last one is true!

 Mr. Boyer is a huge family oriented guy so outside of his job at the school, in his free time he loves to hangout with his wife and kids while his favorite part of everyday is having his kids run up to him with so much happiness. To this day he enjoys playing basketball because of his history with it: playing basketball in highschool and college and then going on to be an assistant coach for basketball at FLCC. Underneath all that gear he’s just another easy going human being like the rest of us.
