Hal didn’t grow up far from Victor. He grew up in Irondequoit. In addition to asking where he lived, I asked what was most memorable about high school for him. He had responded with not one moment but his whole senior year. The fact that it’s your last year of high school and he enjoyed every moment of it.
If you take on Mr. Hal’s class you learn more about him, one of those things being coaching. Mr. Hal used to coach football and I simply asked why he doesn’t anymore. Hal had simply said “Family”. It had become too much for him to balance coaching and his kid.
What is Mr Hal’s Favorite sport? “From 5-10 years old I was a basketball fan and was obsessed with Micheal Jordan,” Hal says. After getting cut from a basketball team his love for the game had started to fade and he had found a new love. That new love is football, he still enjoys basketball, it’s just not the same anymore.
Lastly, I asked Hal what made him want to become a teacher. After a rough breakup with a girl just after moving to Texas with her, Hal needed a plan. Hal had gotten an internship at an aquarium, working with kids and teaching about the animals there. Then the thought came into his head, “Wouldn’t it be great if I became a teacher?” And the rest is history.
I then asked Mr. Hal what the best way for a kid to learn was. Hal had told me that there’s not one way a kid learns. Everyone is different so everyone learns in their own way. Because of this Mr. Hal tries to incorporate all kinds of learning in his class. Such as visual, hands-on, and lecturing.
Mr Halloran is a biology, AP biology, and anatomy teacher. He has one son named Wes and a lovely wife he likes to do activities with. I asked Mr. Hal how he balances his work life and home life. He said “It’s almost impossible.” Because of everything he has to deal with at school teaching 3 different classes and at home having an infant and the troubles with a child.
If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and why? I know who Hal would pick and that person is Barack Obama. He says he would love to ask him “what it was like to lead the free world,” And what his experiences were like. How did he come to all the decisions he came to? Hal had thought he was a great president because of the way he dealt with world problems.
Now Halloran, If you don’t know him loves sharks. Sharks play a big role in his classroom and desk when it comes to decoration. Everywhere you look in his room is a shark and I wanted to know why. Hal says he has a memory sitting in his living room watching TV and a commercial came on for Shark Week and he thought that was the coolest thing ever.
What does Hal think is better Marvel or Star Wars? Hal says he doesn’t like to get in the middle of this debate because he can’t decide which is better. Although if I had to choose what one Hal would pick I think he would secretly pick Marvel just because he has a closer connection with it.

I really liked the article! I’ve never had Mr. Hall, but he seems like a great teacher, and it was cool to learn more about him as a person. But, while I was reading, I noticed that some sentences were harder to understand because they were missing punctuation.

I never had Hal as a teacher, despite taking both bio and Ap bio, but I wish I had. He seems like a great guy, who truly cares about his family. Like him, I am also very interested in biology and marine life, and I also love sharks. Overall I think that this review could have been written in a better, more stylistic fashion. Some of the sentences feel a little choppy, and the transition between paragraphs could be better. Overall though, I enjoy the descriptions of Hal, and how the article is structured to give a better idea of his character.

This article is awesome! Mr. Hal is the coolest teacher and I loved learning more about what he enjoys outside of school. Having heard from him in class about his love of sharks, Marvel, and his family, this article definitely captured some of Mr. Hal’s favorite things and his great sense of humor. I’d have to agree that Mr. Hal secretly likes Marvel better than Star Wars too.

The teacher features are always my favorites on the Victor Voice website. So naturally, I loved getting to read this insight on one of my favorite teachers! The questions you asked him were very diverse, and I thought it was great that you didn’t only focus on one aspect. Hal is such a dynamic and fun guy, and I think you captured his many interests very well!

This article was great! As a student of his, I found it interesting to learn more about Mr. Halloran and the reasons behind some of his passions. You can see that you really put effort into creating fun and specific questions that give the reader a glimpse into who Hal really is. The only thing I would comment on is that the piece lacks some organization, as well as being a little informal at times. This article was still very entertaining to read!

This is such a well-written article! I loved the questions you asked Hal, all of the information I learned was so interesting. I didn’t know some of these things about Hal. Great work!

I liked learning about Mr. Hal’s past. Even though I’ve never had him as a teacher, I enjoyed learning more about a teacher at my school. The article had many insightful questions about his childhood and how he got to where he is now. However, I did think the article was a bit repetitive at times. I wish there was more structure and transitions from one question to the next.

Wow, I loved learning all about Mr. Hal in this piece! As one of his very own students, I appreciate getting to know more about him and his interests, it can help us form a better connection. This article included lots of fun questions, which helped to keep the tone lighthearted and upbeat. I do wish that there was more of a structure to the piece, maybe include more connecting words that would help transition from one topic to the next. Other than that, I think this article was extremely informative and well written.

I enjoyed the article and learned more about a teacher I otherwise wouldn’t have known. However, I think your article could benefit from more attention to grammar and more detail on the bigger topics. Over all well done and good job!

I Love the article. Mr. Hall is an icon of a teacher and it was nice to learn more about him as a human being. While reading how ever, some missing punctuation made some sentences a little more difficult to read than others.
