“The biggest challenge I feel now is gamers’ desire to continue to divide our industry. The mentality is that somebody must fail in order for someone else to succeed.” – Phil Spencer

When it comes to gaming, there are two companies that are always competing for attention, and those two companies are Sony and Microsoft. You can also argue that Nintendo is in the mix, but let’s be honest, Nintendo is on their own planet. Nintendo always wins basically. Mostly because they are the only one out of three companies that has a portable device that can be used at any time, and played anywhere. No matter which console you choose, PlayStation, XBOX, or Nintendo you will always be satisfied with the games that are offered.

However, when looking at both PlayStation and XBOX, each offer exclusive games that can’t be found anywhere else, (besides on PC). From playing the iconic duo of Ratchet and Clank, to exploring the horrors that lurk in Returnal, these top selling PS exclusive games give the power to the player. If you want to follow Master Chief on his adventures though, you’ll have to pick XBOX for that. Not only does XBOX have all the Halo games, but it also offers many other exclusives, those being the State Of Decay series, and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise.

When looking at these exclusives, many argue that it’s not fair, and it’s bad for games to be exclusive, because that means other gamers won’t be able to play them, but to be honest life isn’t fair. You need competition. If you don’t have competition, then it’s boring and one company will always succeed. However, if you put another company like XBOX into the mix, it makes things more interesting.

Both companies are competing for attention, so they will do whatever they can to get as many gamers on board.

A great example of this is what happened just recently with XBOX acquiring Bethesda. This is huge news, because Bethesda is home to many well known games. The Fallout, Doom, Elder Scrolls, Dishonored, and Wolfenstein franchises are just some of the many iconic ones that are under Bethesda’s umbrella of games. With XBOX now owning Bethesda, this means future Bethesda games will be exclusive to XBOX or PC.

The future for XBOX is looking very promising. As long as they continue to acquire more gaming studios, and make those games exclusive to XBOX, then more gamers will flock to the XBOX community.
