You all must be wondering, Who is Mr. Miller? Well let’s go back to his 7th grade year. Mr. Miller’s journey with English started when he was in 7th grade. In his recent interview with The Victor Voice he told us that he realized he wanted to be an English teacher when he had a teacher who helped build confidence in 7th grade.
Mr. Miller, an English teacher who was raised in Clinton, New Jersey, graduated from Nazareth University, Majored in Inclusive Ed and got his Bachelor’s degree in History and Inclusive Ed.
As you all may know Mr. Miller was a student teacher here at Victor his senior year of college. During the 2022-2023 school year Mr. Miller student taught in Mr. Muscarella’s Global Studies and Sociology classes.
Mr. Miller told us that, “When offered a position working with English classes, I saw it as an opportunity to get a job in a district that matched what I mentioned prior and expand my bag of tricks when it comes to helping students with writing”. Mr. Miller saw more value in pursuing a job in a district where he saw community, commitment to success and work ethic among staff that matched his.
Currently Mr. Miller co-teaches many English classes with Mr. Kurnath, Mrs. Horsfall, Mrs. McManis, and Mr. Kaper. He’s always got a positive attitude and brings that positivity into the classroom with him and it definitely helps kids focus.
Mr. Miller told us that his goals for the future is to continuously get better at what he does and help students while he does that. As for location, he would love to be a history teacher but would prefer to stay where he feels like his position is valued, purposeful and most importantly fun!
A fun fact about Mr. Miller is he coaches 1st and 2nd grade mini lacrosse. He started coaching when he got out of high school and has taught ever since then.
