Mr. Arnold is a teacher who is truthfully a man of many talents. From a strong writing ability to a wonderful musician, and a talented martial artist, Mr. Arnold can do it all.
At the age of 14, Arnold started playing the guitar. He credits a friend of a friend, claiming the thing that got him interested was hearing said friend play a Megadeth solo on his guitar.
Partway through high school, he joined his first of many bands, Blind Identity, a metal band of which he was a part of until the time he was in college. His main instrument is the guitar, but he also plays a bit of keys and has played the bass for a few bands he was involved in.
Arnold started college after high school, but ended up dropping out after only two semesters to focus on the band he was in, Blind Identity. While touring with the band, he picked up a gradual love for reading and talking to people about his findings in literature.
He often found himself sitting in coffee shops, striking up conversations with people about books he had been reading. This turned into a love of English, which caused him to eventually go back to college to get an English degree.
After working hard until nearly the end of college, he was offered the opportunity to join another metal band, called Gargantua Soul. Although school was important to him, he thought it would always be there, but opportunities in music may not. So he decided to drop out again, and join Gargantua Soul.
Following the years of being involved in three different bands and one duo, Arnold came to the realization that he preferred to work as a solo artist. He claimed being in a band was similar to being in a marriage with 7 people, stating it was not worth the headache. He also believed being in a band caused a block of creative freedom, as to where solo work is independent and gives more creative freedom.
As his years of being a musician came to an end, Arnold was able to finish his English degree and become the genuine and lovable teacher we see him as now. As a teacher, it is important to him that he is the same inside of school as he is outside of school.
“I am me all the time. I sound the same outside of school as I do in front of a class.” – David Arnold

I can say confidently that this is entirely accurate. Arnold is an incredibly authentic person and deserves this type of recognition. He’s made me rethink my values time and time again, and helped me grow as a person, as well as so many others.
