Mr. Forrest began his teaching career in 1990 and worked in various teaching positions. In 2006, he joined the staff at Victor High School, where he has continued to make a positive impact on students through engaging lessons and community involvement.
What drew him to Victor was its alternative education program, which offered a flexible and individualized learning environment for students who may not thrive in a traditional school setting. “Traditional” means a teacher-centric, structured, and predictable environment that follows a strict, standardized curriculum. The alternative model offered a more proactive learning approach, offering a specialized program for students who face obstacles in or outside of school. The focus is on smaller group sizes and helping students reintegrate rather than stay in the alternative setting indefinitely. Over the years, the program has consistently shown a positive effect on the students at Victor.
This year, he’s teaching the Economics elective and Global 9 – his first time teaching Global 9 in five years. Mr. Forrest is well known for his friendly and approachable nature. His positive attitude makes him easy to talk to and creates a welcoming classroom environment. A majority of students feel comfortable seeking his guidance and support. Over the years, he has earned the trust and respect of many.
Outside the classroom, he definitely plays a role in making Victor a more welcoming place. He helps run the Positive School Climate Committee, which meets monthly on Thursdays, and is a member of the Diversity Club, meeting monthly on Wednesdays. This demonstrates Forrest’s dedication to the community and efforts to make Victor more inclusive.

He also hosts quiet lunch in his room during all of 3rd block, understanding that the cafeteria can be chaotic or students may not have friends in their lunch. This honestly saved me during my sophomore year, and I know it supported just as many other kids. His room provides a space where students can eat lunch, relax, catch up on work, or simply enjoy a peaceful break.
Mr. Forrest’s teaching philosophy is mainly centered on the students. He believes that guiding and collaborating with students is the most effective way to teach. He meets students where they are and understands that everyone learns differently. His approach is primarily with kindness and the belief that a positive connection can make a significant difference in someone’s day.
Outside of school, Forrest enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids, and their two pugs. He also enjoys running and working out at the gym.
Forrest lives by the quote “People won’t remember what you say, but how you make them feel,” and it shows in everything he does. His dedication and genuine care for students make him more than just a teacher; he’s someone who leaves an impact on everyone he meets in Victor.
