Mr. Owens, a well respected individual here at Victor. But who is he? Mr. Owens is a well respected teachers Aide, but there is a lot more to him than you might think! After finishing his undergraduate degree in history, he applied here at Victor to gain some classroom experience before starting his masters program. He hopes to become a Social Studies teacher in the near future, as he is currently finishing up his masters degree online.
Mr. Owens enjoys being apart of the FLTCC program, or more commonly known as BOCES. He helps out with the attendance, and the BOCES study hall, where he looks after the students when they return from BOCES. Though Mr. Owens may not have his own official set classroom, you can find him all around the school, helping wherever he may be needed.
When Mr. Owens is not at school, he can often be found playing video games. He states “I play a lot of video games. I just finished playing Baldur’s Gate 3 which took me 92 hours, I’ve spent 600+ hours on Skyrim, I have played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla several times which takes at least 100 hours each times, and I’m currently playing God of War Ragnarok” Another interesting thing about him is that he co-coaches a youth hockey team, the Canandaigua Knights 10U team. After school, he help run the sports study hall in the cafeteria, or detention in the ISS room.
One of the most unique things about Mr. Owens is that he’s ambidextrous due to a child accident. At the young age of
seven, he suffered a traumatic brain injury that affected the left side of his brain, causing him to switch from right handed, to left. He likes to joke about his scars though, even calling the on next to his mouth his “Joker scar”. At home, he still lives with his parents, as he is young and college isn’t cheap, but he has some adorable pets like his bearded dragon, his two dogs and his cat.
Mr. Owens is a great part of our Victor community that more people should get to know, as he’s quite the humorous but hardworking fellow, making him a member member of our Victor schools community.
