As the school year comes to a close sectionals for Girls Varsity Lacrosse are just beginning. The 2-seed Blue Devils faced the 7-seed Webster Thomas Titans. On a warm Tuesday evening Victor Girls Varsity Lacrosse took on Webster Thomas for the chance to move on to the semi-finals. It was a close game keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.

The girls had taken on Webster earlier in the season and had won. That said, the effort was still there, and they did not get too confident.

This being the first win-or-go-home game of the season made the game even more intense. There are many strategies for playing in a game like this. “Being positive and supporting one another is a big thing.” says senior defensive Maryn Savage.

Maryn has played lacrosse since she was five and is committed to Binghamton for Divison 1 Women’s Lacrosse. With this being her last year she always tries to “Trust yourself and trust the process, and just embrace the moment.”

Not only do you need support on the field but also off, as many members from the boy’s varsity lacrosse team came to cheer the girls on.

Junior offense Devin Livingston started the game off with the first goal getting everyone very excited, but Thomas came back very quickly scoring 3 goals making the score 3-1, Thomas. It was a tight game but the girls kept fighting.

As senior Ava Zaccour said they, “Got a little bit worried as they were down but kept pushing to get to this comeback, and as the game went on the worry began to leave.”

This night was full of happiness as the girls moved past and got the win!

The next game for the Blue Devils takes place at Pittsford Sutherland, Thursday the 25th facing The Spencerport Rangers who are the 6th seed. This should be a great game while the Blue Devils record is 12-4 and the Rangers record is 9-7.
