On Wednesday’s She Wears Pink

On+Wednesdays+She+Wears+Pink

Makayla Davenport is an artistic and fashion-forward sophomore who expresses her endless creativity through her fashion and piercings. Since the age of thirteen, she has been passionate about her fashion style and expresses this every day she comes into school.

Every Wednesday, Makayla’s weekly ritual is to wear a full pink outfit inspired by the film, Mean Girls. Her favorite pink look being her star pants with straps on them, along with a baby pink top with hot pink stripes across it. Her pink fashion forward outfits tie into Makayla’s girly and streetwear fashion.

To express Makayla’s street style fashion, Makayla wears her blue overalls with rainbow patchwork, a heather gray t-shirt, lollypop dangly earrings, and her white heydudes, which are similar to white vans.

She feels the most confident when she wears bright colors or fun earrings like this outfit.

Earrings are one of the pieces that Makayla’s needs and always has on,“they complete me, I feel bare without them.” She even will choose to match her earrings with pieces in her outfit. An example of this would be her red mushroom earrings with a red t-shirt, her dark blue jeans, and her white heydudes.

Also, she expresses herself through her piercings. In regards to her nose piercing, before her 14th birthday, she chose to get a nose piercing on her right side because she had been wanting to for quite a while. They make her feel confident. As she chose to get another nose piercing, and then her gauges, she realizes that her piercings overall help express her creativity.

Recently Makayla has made the choice to get gauges. Makayla is allergic to the metal that is used in most earrings. Gauges help avoid that since they aren’t made of metal. She also just really likes the look of them. When she first got her gauges done, she chose black gauges but as she stretched her ears more, she chose to change them to red to match her new septum piercing.

While walking through the mall, where Makayla purchases the majority of her outfits, she noticed millions of girls wearing leggings with baggy tees or skinny jeans. Instead she suggests wearing a tight top with baggy pants or flared jeans instead of skinny.

Makayla believes that dressing unique and true to yourself is the most important thing to show who you are. It allows you to express your personality and your creativity because after all “creativity is everything.”
