Located on Main St.Victor, across from O’Brien’s barbershop, is a family-owned Asian cafe known as the Sweet Basil Cafe, Victor’s newest restaurant.

The cafe just opened in October. The employees are eager to have many new customers. Their goal is to attract the citizens of Victor to try their Asian cuisine with items you can’t find anywhere else in Victor.

“A family-owned Asian restaurant nestled in the heart of Victor” is how the owners of the cafe view themselves.

The most popular items on their menu are homemade ramen and pho. If you are unfamiliar with pho, it is known as a slow-cooked broth with many spices, veggies, rice noodles, scallions, and meat.

When first entering the Sweet Basil cafe you can get a feel for the warm and welcoming atmosphere by not only the thought-out decor but also the employees greeting you with a friendly smile at the door.

As my friend Macy and I sat down, we opened the menu which was filled with detail about each item! We were delighted with all the options.

After we were seated we were pleasantly surprised when the owner discussed that first-timers get one complimentary pot of tea with honey and a slice of lime. All the tea is fresh and made to order. We became overwhelmed with all the options: Green, Black, White, Vanilla, Jasmine, Hibiscus, Rose, Butterfly, Pea flower, or a lavender tea. Because we were unable to decide with all of the amazing choices we asked the owner which she preferred and she recommended the rose tea which we loved.

 Along with the tea, we started our order off with a fresh pork spring roll served with a peanut sauce. We also ordered the grill skewers, 5 pieces of marinated meat of your choice, or tofu. We chose chicken and are glad we did.

We could not leave without trying one of their most popular dishes Ramen. We ordered a miso base broth with Chicken, vegetables, and homemade noodles.

Once we saw the portions of food our mouths dropped in awe. The cafe owner shared with us that most of the portions were selected for two or more people to share so it makes for a great experience if you go with friends and family.

All things considered, everything was fantastic! Everything we tried was bursting with flavor.

No matter what age you are, the Sweet Basil Cafe is the place for you. Whether you are a teen looking for a quiet place to eat and study or an adult looking for a calm place to relax. The prices are fair for everyone.  All main dishes range from $10-$16 and smaller plates range from $5-$13.

There is no doubt that I will return with more friends to try their new and exciting menu items. The Sweet Basil Cafe is a family-friendly and interactive cafe. With the kind staff and the delicious food, the Sweet Basil Cafe is not one to disappoint.
